Hi, I’m Angie, and like you, I am a creative soul who loves the spirit of the natural world. My love of plants was born one summer when my grandmother took my family on a road trip to my father’s birthplace near Little Rock, Arkansas. In an empty lot next to my aunt’s house, we picked weeds for a “poke salad,” it was fascinating and delicious. The experience always stayed with me. It planted the seed of endless possibilities with plants.

It was at an old beach cabin where I began to work with fabrics and dyes after an emergency surgery that awoke the need for more creative joy in my life. Working with my hands in the summer sun and cool sea air, tie-dyeing t-shirts, socks, and scarves brought me to my happy place. However, once I realized the toxicity of the synthetic dyes to myself and the environment, I began playing with plant dyes, and a new fascination was born! After being laid off from a corporate job of nearly 20 years, I went back to school to chart my own destiny and become an entrepreneur to share my love of natural plant dyes with you.

Last summer, my husband and I moved into a 150-year-old farmhouse among the temperate rainforest of the northwest coastal range, lichen falling from the trees that I use in my dye pot. I forage the local landscape for fallen leaves, walnuts, dandelions, and mushrooms for the dyes and inks I create. We are knee-deep in renovations, building a greenhouse and a large garden with dreams of an art studio where I explore the local landscape, honor the seasons and the plants’ wisdom.
